The Grand Mosque of Masjid Raya Al-Mashun Medan City
Medan Great Mosque (Masjid Raya Al Mashun) is the icon of Medan tourism as well as the highlight of interesting places to see around Medan – North Sumatra which is perfectly situated in Medan downtown, about 200m away from Maimun Palace. The mosque was built in 1906 and completed in 1909 by Sultan Ma’mun Al Rashid Perkasa Alam, The Sultanate of Deli.

Unique architecture and interior design
It was designed by the Dutch architect, Theodoor van Erp who also previously designed The Maimun Palace where he handed over to JA Tingdeman to accomplish the design with an octagonal symmetrical layout style, combining elements from Morocco, India, Europe and the Middle East.
