TRAVEL ITINERARY :

DAY 01 Medan City Tour or Kuala Namu International Airport to Bukit Lawang | NORTH Sumatra

Our Tour Guide team will pick you up either from hotel around Medan downtown North Sumatra or Kuala Namu International Airport . On our way to Bukit Lawang, we’ll have some stops to visit interesting places around Medan City. Such as; Medan Grand Mosque (Masjid Raya Al-Mashun)(Istana) Maimun Palace, the splendid unique church Maria Annai Vellangkanni and Asam Kumbang Crorodile Conservation. After that we continue driving straight to Bukit Lawang which takes about 4 – 5 hours’ drive passing through small towns with rubber, massive palm oil and cacao plantations. Finally we check in hotel straight away after arriving at Bahorok – Bukit Lawang and free program during noon time.

DAY 02 Bukit Lawang 1 day Jungle Trekking Sumatran Orangutan tours | NORTH Sumatra

The following exciting activity after breakfast is to explore Bukit Lawang jungle to discover the rarest apes on earth Sumatran Orangutan tours trekking. On the first day trip takes around 5to6 hour’s jungle trek which is quite doable and suitable at any age.

DAY 0Bukit Lawang to Berastagi Tour | NORTH Sumatra

North Sumatra vacations will proceed by travelling to Berastagi Town, a town surrounded with lovely mountains landscape. Coffee break at Panorama Berastagi would be a great stop. Proceed the journey to visit the Lumbini Temple Park, a unique Budhist temple in Berastagi region. We will continue the tour by visiting Berastagi traditional fruit market as well as the Gundaling hill at Berastagi for the enchanting panoramic view of Sinabung and Sibayak volcanoes. Later at noon check in hotel (Berastagi).

DAY 04 Mount Sibayak Volcano Hike – Berastagi Tours| NORTH Sumatra

First of all, this trip is indeed much better to start quite early in the morning before sunrise in order to catch up the magnificent sunrise view. Ideally starts at 04h00 from your hotel in Berastagi. Another possibility is after early breakfast around 07h00 or 08h00 starting from your hotel purposely just to catch the view.

We begin driving to Mount Sibayak climbing starting point, roughly 30 minutes away from Berastagi. Then starts hiking up to slowly reach Mount Sibayak summit to enjoy the impressive view of Berastagi highland surrounding landscape. Sometimes the gigantic summit of Mount  Sinabung Volcano can also be seen if the weather is clear enough.

The easy lovely hike itself takes around 90 minutes to 2 hours and likewise in return nearly the same time. Then we carry on driving to Sidebuk debuk hot springs located on the foot of Mount Sibayak for the natural relaxation happy ending after volcano climbing. On our way back, we will visit Pagoda Lumbini, the impressive Buddhist Temple Park. It is situated about 30 minutes away from Berastagi before returning to hotel and leisure on your own path.

DAY 05 Berastagi to Samosir Island – Toba Lake | NORTH Sumatra

On our way, we will have some stops to visit Dokan Village, the authentic traditional typical Batak Karo village. We will witness and experience how people live in their long houses following the traditions from their ancestors. Then we proceed to a fabulous tourist attraction around North Sumatra, the charming Sipiso-piso waterfall with fascinating Lake Toba background.

After that we carry on driving to the King Purba Palace, the ancient Bolon House at Simalungun regency. It must be great to gain more experience to see completely different type of traditional Batak long house architectures. We move on further to have some lovely coffee break at Panorama Simarjarunjung, Northern Toba Lake view surrounded with mountains landscape. After that we drive furthermore to Parapat or Tiga Ras to catch a ferry/boat across Samosir Island – Toba Lake. We finally check in hotel around Toba Lake at noon time.

DAY 06 Cultural Tour around Samosir Island – Lake Toba | NORTH Sumatra

The cultural Toba Lake tour starts by visiting the most famous tourist attractions around Samosir Island. Our first stop will be at the ancient stone chair site of King Siallagan court-yard situated at Ambarita village which is overwhelmed with typical Bolon houses. After that we will visit Simanindo village to experience the traditional dancing performance of Batak Toba. And then we are going to take our lunch break around Tuktuk area.

After that we proceed to visit Tomok village to see the ancient site of King Sidabutar graves yard (tombs/sarcophagus). And we will carry on to Panorama Parhalow (Sigarantung) to have a splendid coffee break with enchanting view of southern Panorama Lake Toba – Samosir Island.

After we are done with all the famous highlights around Samosir Island and then we finally return to your hotel. During afternoon will certainlybe on your own leisure and Free Program. Could be relaxing, reading by the lake side or swimming would be a lovely idea. Perhaps having traditional massage would absolutely be such a brilliant choice whilst enjoying the lovely noon.

DAY 07 Transit trip from PARAPAT Lake Toba to BUKITTINGGI – Stay overnight in Padang Sidempuan | NORTH Sumatra Tour

The itinerary of your holiday trip around NORTH region will go on further to explore WEST Sumatra Indonesia. This tour ideally starts at 07h30(7.30am) from your hotel around Samosir Island catching a boat crossing Lake Toba to Parapat.

In the transit trip, we will stay overnight in Padang Sidempuan city on our halfway to Bukittinggi (Padang). On journeys we will visit Balige traditional market with its typical Batak Toba rooftop house. And then a short coffee break will be at Panorama Gurgur, the southern panorama Lake Toba. After that another 1 hour drive to Tarutung (known as the religious Christian town) for our lunch break. We continue driving for about 2 hours’ to Sipirok village for a short coffee break at a lovely mountainous village. We will travel farther around 90 minutes’ drive and finally check in hotel in Padang Sidempuan around noon time.

DAY 08 Padang Sidempuan to Highland of Bukittinggi | WEST Sumatra

We will travel farther more from North to West Sumatra, along the tour we will stop at some interesting places. Our coffee break will be at Sihepeng village, a mini botanical garden where you can see varieties of typical Sumatran spices grow around here. Then we will carry on driving to Kotanopan village surrounded with rice fields for our lunch break.

After that we continue our journey further crossing the border between North and West Sumatra province. After reaching West Sumatra region, we will have a short break at natural Panti hot spring. Then we continue to stop at the Bonjol Equator Lane, Sumatra. And we proceed driving straight to Bukittinggi which takes around 90minutes’ drive to finally check in hotel at late noon.

DAY 09 Bukittinggi – Lake Maninjau Countryside Tour | WEST Sumatra

Lake Maninjau countryside tour begins by visiting Panorama Park, the overlook point of fascinating the Grand Sianok Canyon Bukittinggi. After that we proceed to Koto Gadang Village to see how the local people make traditional handmade silver. And later on our coffee break will be at the magnificent view of Panorama Sungai Landia.

After that we move farther to Puncak Lawang, a lovely top point to overlook at fabulous view of Maninjau Lake. In case, if you are interested in some other interesting things around Puncak Lawang are the Zip Lining and Paragliding. The journey proceeds down to Maninjau Lake via Kelok 44 hairpin road.

After reaching the lake, it is time to finally enjoy the beach while relaxing, having lunch and even swimming. From Maninjau Lake we travel back to Bukittinggi around noon which approximately takes around 60 minutes’ drive to grab a coffee break at the lovely Taruko Village located at the bottom of the Grand Sianok Canyon Bukittinggi. Finally we to return to your hotel in Bukittinggi which approximately takes 15 minutes’ drive.

DAY 10 Minangkabau Countryside Tour to Harau Valley | WEST Sumatra.

Minangkabau tour will discover more about Minangkabau culture, traditional houses, traditions and etc around Batusangkar Tanah Datar district. We will start the journey to visit Pandai Sikek Village, to see local people make traditional hand weaving (songket) and wood carving (ukiran kayu) with typical Minangkabau style and designs.

Then we carry on to Batipuah village to visit an old building of Minangkabau mosque (called “Surau”) with its original Minangkabau architecture. And then our coffee break will at Singkarak Lake. After that we proceed visiting another tourist attraction, Balimbiang village to see old traditional Minangkabau houses. Especially Rumah Tuo Kampai Nan Panjang which was built without any nails and thatched roof top with buffalo horn shape.

Finally our late lunch will be at a lovely restaurant surrounded with terraced paddy fields landscape at Sungai Tarok village. Then we continue driving to Batusangkar to visit Istana Pagaruyuang Palace, the fascinating Minangkabau traditional big house. Proceed driving to Panorama Tabek Patah for a lovely coffee break. Finally we continue driving about 90 minutes and check in at ABDI Homestay Harau Valley late noon.

DAY 11 Harau Valley Countryside walk or Jungle Trek | WEST Sumatra

The adventure day to discover the hidden beauty beneath Harau Valley. Firstly we will start our day a bit early in the morning, either to do the easy lovely countryside walking or jungle trekking. Lunch break will be in the jungle. Stop at some waterfalls would be a perfect stop after walking and sweating a lot. Finally we continue hiking back to ABDI homestay later in the afternoon.

DAY 12 (Lembah) Harau Valley Valley to Padang Downtown | WEST Sumatra

Start heading to Padang downtown which roughly takes five hours drive. We will visit Pandai Sikek Village, to see local people make traditional hand weaving (songket) and wood carving (ukiran kayu). We will also have a short stop at Anai waterfall, Anai Valley. Later on coffee break at Kiambang Panorama coffee shop and then proceed driving to Padang downtown. We will explore the highlight surrpunding Padang, such as The Grand Mosque of Padang, Padang Beach and finally check in hotel (Padang) at noon.

DAY 13 Padang City to Padang AIRPORT | End of Sumatra Tour

From your hotel in Padang city, we head to Padang Airport Padang Airport. Depends on your flight schedule. It is also possible to drive around Padang downtown before reaching the airport.
